The word “robot” comes from the Czech language. It was first introduced by the writer Karel Čapek in his 1920 play “R.U.R.” (Rossum’s Universal Robots). The word “robot” is derived from the Czech word “robota”, which means “forced labor” or “drudgery”. In the play, robots were artificial, human-like workers created to perform labor for humans. The term was later adopted into English and many other languages to refer to machines or devices that can carry out tasks automatically.
