The Nile River flows through Egypt and is the most important river in the country. It is also considered the longest river in the world, stretching about 6,650 kilometers. The Nile provides essential water for farming, drinking, and transportation in Egypt, a country with very little rainfall. It flows from central Africa northward and empties into the Mediterranean Sea. Most of Egypt’s population lives along its banks.
