The longest river in the world is the Nile River, which flows for about 6,650 kilometers (4,130 miles). It flows through northeastern Africa, draining into the Mediterranean Sea.
There is some debate about whether the Nile or the Amazon River in South America is the longest, as some measurements suggest the Amazon could be longer, depending on the source of the river. However, traditionally, the Nile is considered the longest.
