Taxonomy is the scientific discipline concerned with classifying, naming, and organizing living organisms into groups based on shared characteristics.
It helps scientists:
Understand the relationships between different organisms,
Identify and name species (using binomial nomenclature, like Homo sapiens for humans),
And place organisms in a hierarchy such as kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species.
In short, taxonomy provides a universal language for biology and a framework to study bi
odiversity.
