To create headers, footers, and page numbers in a document, here’s how you can do it in Microsoft Word and Google Docs:
In Microsoft Word:
1. Header/Footer:
Open your document.
Go to the Insert tab.
Click on Header or Footer in the ribbon.
Choose a pre-designed style or select Edit Header or Edit Footer to customize it.
Once in the header/footer editing mode, you can add text, images, or any other elements you need.
Double-click outside the header/footer area when you’re done editing.
2. Page Numbers:
Go to the Insert tab.
Click on Page Number.
Choose the location and style (e.g., top or bottom of the page, aligned left, center, or right).
The page numbers will automatically appear and update as you add pages.
3. Different First Page/Sections:
If you want the first page to have a different header/footer (e.g., no page number or different content), go to the Header & Footer Tools tab and check Different First Page.
For different sections (e.g., Chapter 1 starts a new section), insert a Section Break via the Layout tab and then customize each section’s header/footer.
